As a partner, Allan Sternberg is a a highly regarded General, Commercial and Real Estate litigator.
Allan built his practice through an enviable success rate representing clients involved in acrimonious lawsuits, and acting as an advisor and counsel to warring factions inside privately-held companies.
His practice emphasizes complex real estate, commercial and securities issues that revolve around as much of a rule of law as from the sheer competitiveness on the part of his entrepreneurial clients. Allan has a high profile and his files usually involve high stakes and complicated disputes.
His broad and deep legal knowledge, experience and expertise are coupled with strong people skills and a good understanding of business realities and intricate financial issues. His style, advice and guidance are especially appreciated in small private companies where power, decision-making and strong egos reside with just a few critical shareholders. As a result, Allan represents clients in court as well as by providing strategic advice and counsel to reduce the impact of litigation proceedings on their business.
Because of the high stakes involved in many of his cases, Allan appears before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court Trial Division, all levels of Ontario Courts and various regulatory bodies such as the Ontario Securities Commission and the Investment Dealers Assn.
He’s involved in trials, appeals, negotiations, mediations and arbitrations in cases involving real estate, condominiums, commercial landlord and tenant disputes, commercial transactions, corporate law, contracts, shareholders disputes, partnership, joint ventures, limited partnership, fiduciary obligations, construction, mortgages, and mortgage and loan guarantees.
Allan’s law degree is from the University of Toronto and he received a Bachelor of Civil Laws degree at Oxford University.
