Richard’s commercial litigation practice focuses on contract disputes, debtor and creditor issues, corporate and shareholder remedies, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, employment and defamation, as well as construction and real estate law. Richard has served a variety of individual and corporate clients, including private and public corporations and financial institutions.
He appears on motions, applications, trials and appeals at all levels of Ontario Courts including the Court of Appeal. He also represents clients before administrative and regulatory bodies including those dealing with human rights, the Employment Standards Act, the New Home Warranties Plan Act, the Securities Act and the Residential Tenancies Act.
Richard’s experience and background allows him to provide practical and sound advice to his clientele.
“I take a practical approach to every matter by identifying my client’s objectives, and the legal and practical issues at hand. I then present all available options, along with my recommendation and advice” Richard notes, “the ultimate goal is to resolve the dispute, be it through negotiation, mediation or litigation.”
In addition to being an experienced commercial litigator, Richard is a self-described cooking enthusiast, a wannabe drummer and an avid skier.
He received his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Ontario in 1993 and obtained a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall in 2003 in litigation and dispute resolution
