Paul has practiced family law since 1980. He is a certified specialist in family law as designated by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Paul says “the practice of Family Law has changed significantly over the past several years with an emphasis on financially related determinations and evaluations. In order to be successful, the Family Law practitioner needs to be not only a legal expert but also to be understanding of the significant emotional problems parties go through when they separate and to be a financial advisor in understanding the ramifications of the parties’ economic picture.”
While he practices in downtown Toronto, his clients are from the region which encompasses Milton in the west, Barrie in the north and Cobourg in the east. He has also appeared in courts in Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia. Paul litigates in court as well as practicing mediation. He also appears before Family Law Arbitration Tribunals. He acted as a Dispute Resolution Officer at the Superior Court of Ontario (Family Law branch) in Toronto and was on the Children’s Rights Panel, often being appointed to represent children in protection proceedings.
